Dr. Millie Gore, is West Foundation & Hardin Distinguished Professor, at Midwestern State University & author of  multiple books. A public school teacher for 16 years serving first graders-high school students with & without disabilities, Dr. Gore is a teacher's teacher. She embeds the teaching strategies she recommends into her presentations; participants experience them firsthand, then practice before taking them back to their homes and schools. Millie is in demand at conferences & staff development sessions because she makes learning useful strategies fun! Dr. Alisa Lowrey is a special educator with over 25 years' experience working with & preparing others to work with people with developmental disabilities. Primarily interested in improving real life outcomes in employment, independent living, community involvement, & relationships, she is also interested in application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) to prepare individuals to serve effectively in the field. Alisa is currently Co-Editor of Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities & on the Leadership Team for the national UDL Implementation & Research Network. Retired from the New Orleans Public Schools as Associate Director for Exceptional Children’s Services, she is now a special education monitor for the Louisiana Department of Education & consults with districts & schools on special education issues. Dr. M Banajee & B. Wright Dr. Banajee, Assistant Professor at LSU Health Sciences Center, has deep experience in Communication Disorders & emphasis on young children with complex communication needs. She has published articles on core vocabulary, AAC strategies in the classroom, & early intervention. Brittney Wright is a faculty member at the LSUHSC Human Development Center & has presented at numerous conventions on using eye control solutions with augmentative/alternative communication devices. It is a great honor to announce Dr. Melody Musgrove, Director, Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), U.S. Department of Education, will speak at the 2012 Principals' Academy. Former teacher, director of special education, assistant superintendent, & Mississippi State Director of Special Education, Dr. Musgrove focuses on improving outcomes for all children using collaborative problem-solving & data to influence systemic improvement decisions. Under her leadership, graduation rates & reading/math outcomes for Mississippi students with disabilities improved; inclusive practices increased & disproportionate identification of African American students for special education decreased.
Dr. Mary Banbury Inclusive Practices & Administrative Challenges- Creative Problem Solving Learn new creative

problem-solving strategies in this interactive session to address challenges of implementing inclusive practices; leave with prioritized, customized solutions. Dr. Banbury, Professor Emerita & former Associate Dean, University of New Orleans is a specialist in inclusion, differentiation, gifted & mild/moderate disabilities. She has published, developed curriculum materials, written grants, & presented at national conferences. As a family member & guardian for her sister with multiple disabilities, Mary's commitment to inclusion & differentiation is personal & professional.
Dr. Alisa Lowrey A Benchmark Assessment of Evidence-Based Practices for Administrators. Explore a newly developed checklist to be used as a quick assessment of implementation of evidence based practices for students with ASD & related disabilities in general education classrooms. This tool, specifically for use by administrators & other staff was designed by the University of Cincinnati in partnership with the LASARD project & piloted in both states. Bio information above

* Parents of a child with a DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY (a severe, chronic intellectual or physical impairment that occurs before a person is 22 years old and is likely to continue indefinitely resulting in substantial functional limitations in three or more areas of life activity, and a need for a combination of individually planned services and NOT caused only by mental illness) may ask at their local Families Helping Families Center for financial help to attend the conference.

PAYMENT POLICIES: Payment in full with a check or credit card must be received by November 16, 2012 in order for your registration to be complete.

PURCHASE ORDER POLICY: A purchase order will not reserve your space but only authorizes FHF of Jefferson to invoice your organization for the registration fee; you WILL NOT be registered unless payment in full is received by November 16, 2012. Please also be aware that the conference may sell out before the November 16, 2012 registration deadline, so please register and pay as early as you can.

CONFIRMATION of Registration: Online registration provides you with a confirmation; please print and bring this with you to the conference. CANCELLATIONS/REFUNDS/TRANSFERS: |

No refunds will be made if a registrant fails to attend the conference. A full refund, less a $40 administrative fee, will be made if written or faxed notice is received before November 16, 2012. Telephone cancellations will not be accepted. Registration fees may be transferred to another person only if arrangements are made by phone before November 16, 2012. |
